Why Moderate? It was told to me that if I was going to place a community tool on my site, I must make sure it is well moderated. Why is that? I do not want my members to feel they are being policed.
Thank you for your great question. First and foremost, it is important to think of moderators as members in the community who share like-minded ideas with the other members. Moderators play an essential role in supporting the membership and the site by interacting, guiding members to areas on the site that will benefit them and upholding the site guidelines to ensure your members’ safety. If the moderators are seen as helpful members, and are supported in that role, you will find that your members will come to know, trust and enjoy visiting them and your site.
A well-moderated site is a well-used one. Members will come to know that they will gain support, be heard and be able to share in a quality environment. Plus, advertisers are more likely to purchase ad space on a site that they feel is well maintained.
